Director General Inaugurates New IOM Kenya and Regional Office Building

IOM Kenya, and the IOM East/Horn of Africa Regional Office are proud to announce the opening of the new IOM office building in Nairobi, Kenya. The inauguration of the building was presided over by the IOM Director General, William Lacy Swing on the 25 May. 
 
While opening the building, Ambassador Swing thanked IOM staff on their great work and dedication to the organization. He congratulated staff on the new building and encouraged greater intra-IOM dialogue with great appreciation for those who were “leading from the front, in the field”. The two offices combined host over 300 staff.
 
The new building will help to increase closer cooperation between the IOM Kenya and the Regional Office, in the endeavor to assist the Government of Kenya in addressing migration challenges in the country. Kenya serves as a strategic country for IOM to establish regional presence in contributing to effective, flexible and comprehensive migration management solutions in the East/Horn of Africa. Currently, the region hosts some of the largest displaced refugee and migrant populations in the world.
