Request for Proposal - Community-based Capacity Development Trainings on Disaster Risk Management

The International Organization for Migration (IOM), a leading UN Migration Agency has an on-going project  in Turkana County entitled “Gender and Vulnerability-Sensitive Disaster Risk Reduction And Community Resilience In Turkana and Tana River Counties” with the aim to contribute to the Government of Kenya’s migration-related capacities in preparedness, response, and recovery in the context of natural disasters. This project is funded by IOM Development Fund (IDF) which is currently implemented by IOM Kenya since 1 October 2021 and shall be expected to end on the last day of September 2023.

One of the IOM interventions under this action includes various gender and vulnerability-sensitive community-based capacity development trainings, workshops, planning and other necessary preparedness, strengthening and community resilience activities in select communities of Turkana County. 

The activities shall focus on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRM) interventions both at the county and select Sub-counties which will involve various national and county government agencies, UN humanitarian agencies, local and international non-government organizations and other civil society organizations (CSOs) who are involved in disaster risk management programmes.
